“You just need to learn to think more positive.”
“If you’d get out more, you’d feel better.”
“You just need to ‘get right’ with God.”
“Maybe you need a new antidepressant.”
“How about exercising more?”
“You are sad because you think too much.”
“Your problems are psychosomatic.”
…How often have you heard one or more of these things in response to your battle with depression? I know that over the years, and throughout my battle with Lyme and environmental illness, I have heard them more than I care to remember. While well meaning, such comments are usually off-base and don’t address the real reasons why people with depression suffer, especially in those with complex chronic illnesses. And if you’ve looked for better answers, only to be discouraged in the end…take heart! God has given me some amazing solutions to the problem of depression – through my research, as well as through many years of tears, suffering and my battle with neurological disease. I share these in my upcoming book, Healthy, Happy and Free: Spirit-Soul-Body Solutions for Healing from Depression, in the hopes that they might help you, too! The book is now available for pre-order and will be in stock on January 22, so I encourage you to check it out! Chances are, you’ll find something new here that will help you or your loved ones in their healing journey. Many blessings!
